Her time of 56.03 was the 6th fastest of all time only behind De Vega, Ganosa, Milgar, Punelas and Griffey. De Vega record of 54.75 is the senior and junior national record. The second fastest this season was 400m Hurdle National Champion Josie Malacad who improved her best time from 57.4ht to 57.04 in Vietnam where she placed second and then again in Thailand where she ran 57.03 and then 56.45 to place a credible fourth. Malacad also won the Uni Games 400m dash.

2008, 2011 and 2012 National Champion and UST graduate Keizel Pedrina improved her best time from 57.1 (ht) to 56.88 winning the national title at the Philippine National Games.

Also strong in this event is Fil-Heritage sprinter Krizia Leah Apelar who ran 56.7 earlier in the year. Apelar opted to run 100/200 at the National Games and won the 200m title this year.

Upcoming Lorna Olarita of Bohol (UPSF) also had considerable improvements this year going from 58.78 to 57.51.

As predicted four of the five athletes listed for a possible 4x400m relay have performed well this year. The Philippines has not had a medal in the 4×400 since 1993, however a united team in Myanmar could see the end of a 20 year drought and perhaps security for the next two sea games at least.

You can read the full report here on athletes in Vietnam and 4×400 prospects.

The Legacy in this event may continue with several younger athletes such as Fil Heritage athletes Kayla Richardson as well as national Junior and Palaro Champion Neslee Angco have all featured on the ranking list.

The Criteria for 2013 now moves from 60.0 to 59.5 for inclusion.
